Cooking stirs up the fondest memories. Whether in the family home or around my grans, there are wonderful smells emerging from the memory cupboards and tastes that do not fade no matter how long it has passed.
There is something special in freshly cut mint and the aroma of juicy tomatoes. This sprinkling of oregano for the roasts and squirting of untamed lemons from the garden. Rich creams turned hard and then melted for the saltiest of cheesy pleasures. I cannot get myself away from the kitchen for too long, so I decided to turn it into a project: a cooking project to share.
You might remember my post from a while back, there is no better way to connect than cooking. The seed has been there for quite some time, wouldn’t it be wonderful to have people over to chat about food and prepare a meal?
Well, it’s all set and ready to go. I decided to open my own kitchen and receive guests so we can cook and eat together. Sharing this experience a few times with friends and guests has been amazing fun. We tried our different ingredients, got the original recipes down and put them to the test for some experimentation. The result was 4 hours very well spent, with ample chatting and chopping and with a bit of wine to wind down and very happy tummies.
Here is to a new start then: workshops! Workshops for now include some of our best traditional mezze and why not, we can make desserts too. So, if you are in Athens, please feel free to get in touch, I would love to share my kitchen with you.
With love from Athens
