So here is me, being out with friends for the best part of last week. We went for drinks, we went for food, we went all over the place, even to the open-air cinema; the screens have started opening their doors the past couple of weeks. It’s been a while that I wanted to do a best of list of places for going out in Athens and I am always met with indecisiveness – there are too many places with gorgeous views to the Parthenon, scrumptious food and delectable cocktails. So my break to Florina was an adventurous one and it did not entail just a tour of the city. We went out in the wild countryside on our way to Nymphaio, a picturesque village hidden up in the mountains unlike any other in Greece. I had a stroll at a sanctuary of wild bears and finished off with a wonderful meal overlooking Vegoritida lake.

I had a well deserved break after Easter, a road trip from Athens all the way up to Florina. Once you leave Athens, it takes a good 7 hours drive to reach destination. Perhaps a bit of a short break for 4 days, but an excursion, no matter how short, helps clear your mind and recharges these batteries. On the plus side, the company was fab and the place magical. Florina, is our North-westernmost city, routed deep in the Balkans, the place where Greece begins.
