So I was out having a drink on Friday night. A grilled kalamari, aubergine dip and houmous to share with a friend whilst sipping over cold raki at Psirri. It started to drizzle, summer has been unusually cool this year. Gentle and refreshing drops turned into thundering rain. Little gems of Athens

going out in Athens

So here is me, being out with friends for the best part of last week. We went for drinks, we went for food, we went all over the place, even to the open-air cinema; the screens have started opening their doors the past couple of weeks. It’s been a while that I wanted to do a best of list of places for going out in Athens and I am always met with indecisiveness – there are too many places with gorgeous views to the Parthenon, scrumptious food and delectable cocktails. My lists are growing long, very long indeed but here are a few gems I visited last week that I will definitely recommend to anyone stopping by Athens for a long weekend. Continue reading

I was out with friends yesterday evening, stalking the backstreets of Athens in a neighbourhood I barely remembered existed; a little way from Omonoia square, etched by narrow streets, lined with tower blocks and just around the corner from Athens’ main food market, Varvakeios.

Spanakorizo and a guided tour of Athens with Ms Marmite lover

I had visitors from London last weekend. I love having guests over, especially from my old home and have to admit I miss the city a little. Kerstin, better known as Ms Marmite Lover, is the personification of London: lively, spirited, dynamic, an ingenious chef and instrumental in establishing the city’s supper-clubs back in 2009!
